Building Community
Valentine’s Day, the celebration of love, friendship, and admiration, warmed everyone’s hearts during the cold winter days at Ljupcho Santov.
Not only was it exciting for the students, but it was also enjoyable for the teachers. Everyone shared kindness and joy, which brought us closer than ever before - not just as individuals, but as a united school community.
Throughout the school, bright little boxes invited students to send messages of friendship, admiration, and surprise. On Valentine’s Day, the Youth Organizers delivered each letter to its recipient. The halls buzzed with laughter and the soft rustle of paper, filling everyone with excitement, joy, and the quiet magic of connection.
The celebration was more than just flowers and chocolates, it was a time to build stronger bonds and share love with everybody.
The Voices Behind the Event
Two Ljupcho Santov second year students, Melani and Mia, worked alongside the president of the Ljupcho Santov Youth Organization, Tamara Postolova, to organize and implement this year’s Valentine’s Day activity. The event was designed to bring students together in a fun and engaging way during the winter season. As President Postolova shared, “Young people in Macedonia love celebrating Valentine’s Day - it is something to look forward to during the cold winter months.” One of the highlights of the celebration was a series of structured “blind dates,” where students were paired together to meet someone new. “Students are set up on blind dates. The blind dates allow students to meet new and exciting friends,” Melani and Mia explained. The activity encouraged connection, conversation, and community among students.
The Importance of The Event
The Valentine's day events were important because it gave students a chance to express themselves and take an active role in school life. It showed students that Ljupcho Santov supports student ideas and encourages creativity and leadership through the Youth Organization. Activities such as the message exchange and blind dates helped students interact with classmates they might not usually talk to.
Many students said this made them feel included, valued, and more open to meeting new people. This experience helped students grow socially and become more confident, showing that our school is a place where positive relationships and student participation truly matter.
In Conclusion
Not only did this event bring joy and positivity to the school it also gave students the courage to express themselves and step out of their comfort zone.
While the event was fun and exciting for the students receiving the letters it was also enjoyable for the students who made the decorations and displayed them around the school.
Events like these remind us that even a small act of kindness, such as a little note from a stranger or a friend can brighten someone's day, especially during the cold winter months.
