International Women's Day

Date: March 8th, 2026

Description:

International Women’s Day is celebrated every year on March 8th. International Women's Day was created in the early 1900s, when women began fighting for their rights, better working conditions, and the right to vote. In 1910, Clara Zetkin, an advocate for equal rights, suggested the idea of a special day dedicated to women during an international conference. Many countries supported the idea, and over time March 8th became an important global celebration. In 1977, the United Nations officially recognized it as International Women’s Day. Today, this it is a symbol of respect, equality, and appreciation for women all around the world.

This March 8th, we can celebrate by spending time with our mothers. We can take them out for coffee, lunch, or dinner, give them flowers, or simply thank them for everything they do for us. The most important thing is to show love and appreciation.

Activities You Can Do On International Women's Day:

  • Take your mother to many beautiful places in Macedonia to make them feel loved and appreciated. For example, we can go for a walk near Lake Ohrid and enjoy the fresh air and peaceful view. You can also visit the Old Bazaar in Skopje, have a nice coffee, and spend quality time together.

  • Take your mother to a traditional restaurant where they can relax and enjoy Macedonian food without cooking for that day. If the weather is nice, we can visit Matka Canyon and spend time in nature.

What is most important is not the place, but showing love, respect, and gratitude for everything our mothers do for us. On this day, we should make them feel special, because they deserve our appreciation every day, not only on the 8th of March.
