Kochani, Macedonia

The accompanying drawings were created by a talented artistic student from Ljupcho Santov High School, Mirce Delcev.

The drawings within this portfolio depict traditional clothing from diverse regions of Macedonia. Traditional clothing from regions such as Mariovo and Ovče Pole reflects the daily lives and natural conditions of the people who wore it. In mountainous areas like Mariovo, women wore thick wool garments, large embroidered aprons, heavy belts, and silver jewelry, designed to provide warmth and durability during cold winters. In the fertile plains of Ovče Pole, traditional dress was shaped by agricultural life, combining practicality with decorative elements that reflected local traditions. These garments, commonly worn until the late 19th century, highlight both functionality and cultural identity.
